LA MAS MAS DE LOS 70'S DE RADIO PANAMERICANA

Uno de los eventos mas importantes a inicios de 1980, se dio justo despues de la eleccion de la mas Mas de 1979. Panamericana aposto por algo mas importante, algo que romperia esquemas, desataria el furor juvenil. LA MAS MAS DE LOS 70'S. Durante varias semanas la radio estuvo promocionando el evento, y ademas en un programa especial difundia todos los exitos candidatos año por año. Finalmente el 15 de Febrero de 1980, en el Campo de Marte se dio lugar al espectaculo masivo mas importante del momento, superando a los festivales musicales de la epoca.

Lugar: Auditorio Campo de Marte, desde hace algunos años el “lugar de encuentro” de los jóvenes para conciertos.

Esta noche debía ser algo especial. Se debía elegir al mejor intérprete, la mejor canción, el mejor grupo y todo lo mejor de los años 70.

En el Auditorio Campo de Marte comenzó a anochecer. Los jóvenes, nerviosos, estaban sentados sobre el césped esperando con impaciencia. A las ocho y media el “Grupo” sube al escenario. Luces rojas, verdes y blancas iluminan la pequeña plataforma. Tras una breve introducción comienza el espectáculo y las canciones de los candidatos a mejor solista son interpretadas por el grupo que acompaña.

El primer lugar lo obtiene Elton John con “Benny & The Jets”.

El segundo lugar se otorga a la que muchos consideran la guitarra más dulce de todos los tiempos: George Harrison con “My Sweet Lord”. ¡Aleluya!

Entre el público había muchos fans de los Beatles.

La mejor intérprete solista fue Roberta Flack con “Killing Me Softly”, seguida por Carole King con “It’s Too Late”. El público reaccionó con entusiasmo.

Ahora llegan las mejores canciones de películas. Se presentan, entre otras:

• How Deep Is Your Love (Saturday Night Fever)

• The Last Dance (Thanks God It’s Friday)

• Let It Be

Se oyen gritos; algunos permanecen de pie, otros saltan y aplauden. Pero cuando suena la canción que hace diez años fue un gran éxito, se hace silencio. Melancolía… esperanza… y luego un júbilo indescriptible.

Se anuncia que “How Deep Is Your Love” obtiene el primer lugar entre las canciones de películas.

El público reacciona como se esperaba: gritos, aplausos y entusiasmo.

Todos saben que la verdadera favorita es “Let It Be”.

Ya desde el principio el público lo presiente. Finalmente se anuncia el resultado y entonces siguen las canciones más conocidas de las bandas más famosas de los años 70: Fleetwood Mac, Santana, America, Bee Gees, entre otros.

Después se presentan nuevamente los ganadores.

Con “Silly Love Songs” todos cantan juntos y también comienzan a bailar. El entusiasmo casi se convierte en delirio. Según la encuesta, Wings es el mejor grupo, Eagles la mejor banda de rock y Donna Summer la mejor cantante de disco.

Para el final se reúnen todos los músicos y se elige la mejor canción de los años 70. Naturalmente cada solista vuelve a subir al escenario.

El júbilo ya no conoce límites.

Los amigos se abrazan. La canción se repite una vez más. El final es ensordecedor.

Al terminar, todos estaban de acuerdo en algo: Todos los Ex Beatles como solistas estan “On Top” y todos desean que esto continúe también durante los años 80.
